Advanced Composition I: Contrast vs Assimilation
The previous pages where filled with "formulas". Those are good for beginners and are good to keep in the back of your mind. However I was always unhappy with the theory of composition, because it feels more like a "Tipps and Tricks collection". Thats why I tried to brake it down into a more universal approach:
Contrast (and the lack of it)
I think contrast is the one, basic thing that shapes the perception of an image. I'll first present you an overview about some image elements. As you can see, almost every element of an image can contrast or be similar to other elements (exept the "point" itself). These are just some examples, this can apply to much more elements: Detail vs less Detail, bold brushstrokes vs fine points, Opacity vs Transparency or even to whole figures like two fighters are high contrast and a homogenous crowd is assimilated...
